When the Murray Library building was renovated in 2013 the snooker hall at the rear of the building was transformed into the Murray Studios which contains 7 individual units for those working in the creative industries and a meeting space for community use.
Each studio in the Murray Studios building has individually controlled heating, ample lighting, Wi-Fi facilities, a shared coffee/tea station and access to a social area and meeting space.
Many small businesses have used the Murray Studios to launch their new business with some then moving on to larger premises as their business expanded. At present the studios are all occupied and there is a waiting list.
The meeting space is available to the local community for rent on an occasional basis. Any booking for the meeting space also gives access to the small kitchen, the social area and Wi-Fi facilities. The meeting space is suitable for people with disabilities as there are no stairs at the access point and a disabled toilet is inside the building.
Cost of hiring the meeting space is £6 per hour or £20 for a half day or £30 for a full day.
